Postering
Do you love to take walks in the neighbourhood? Perhaps with your dog, a friend, your baby, or you just simply like to saunter? Then please consider joining our postering team! If you can help, please email volunteer@ottawaeastCAG.ca

Do you have a certain "Je ne sais quoi?" For people with flair, please come and join our mood setters team to help decorate and set the "ambiance". Ou la la! Email volunteer@ottawaeastCAG.ca

Do you love Food? Yes? Then join our Foodies!
We need a team of people to help put smiles on peoples faces by giving them free food. Interested in spreading hot dogs and happiness? Then email volunteer@ottawaeastCAG.ca.
But wait … you love food AND you can cook/bake? We accept home-made (nut free) treats to share! Please email us if you would like to contribute.

Consider joining the hottest team of all. Become a fire pit master!

Fall Festival

The Fall Festival is a great time to gather in Brantwood Park for (hopefully) some good weather and park fun prior to winter. Come swap stories of summer adventures with your neighbours and help out with these great events.
Monday, October 9
10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Brantwood Park 39 Onslow Crescent.

Posters
Two to three weeks prior to event: Put up provided posters around the community of Old Ottawa East
Requirement: approx 6 people, will need a staple gun and tape

Photographer to take a pictures of the event on the day and forward to CAG the week after the event for Facebook, the Old Ottawa East eUpdate and Mainstreeter
Requirement: One person

Do you have a certain "flare"? Come and decorate the event with pumpkins and hay bales and your add your Fall flare!
Requirements: One person at 9:00 a.m.

Apple Bobbing Volunteers needed to set up, coordinate and take down this watery activity, and make sure the kids have face dunking fun!
Requirements: One person from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m., another from 11:30 - 2:30 p.m.

Pumpkin Painting Volunteers needed to set up, coordinate and take down this creative painting activity, and make sure the kids have lots of fun and take home their wonderful pumpkin art.
Requirements: One person from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m., another from 11:30 - 2:30 p.m.

Hot Chocolate Volunteers needed to make hot chocolate at home (we will provide supplies and thermos) and set up sales on the day
Requirements: One person from 10:00 - noon, another from noon - 2:00 p.m.

Set-up
8:00 - 10:00 a.m. - Volunteers are needed at Brantwood Park to set up the event.
Requirements: 3 people, heavy lifting will be required.

Take-down
2:00 - 3:30 p.m. - Volunteers are needed for take down of the event
Requirements: 3 people, heavy lifting will be required.

BBQ Volunteers
Volunteers are needed as follows:
10:00 - 11:00 a.m., set up and early cooking (2 people)
11:00 - noon, flipping hamburgers and serving (4 people)
Noon - 1:00 p.m., flipping and serving (4 people)
1:00 - 2:00 p.m., flipping and serving (3 people)

Face Painting Volunteers needed to paint the faces of the neighbourhood kids, all materials supplied
Requirements: One person from 10:00 - noon, another from noon - 2:00 p.m.

Main Event volunteers

We look forward to warmer days, greener lawns and growing gardens. For many years the beginning of summer has been marked by The Main Event. It’s a day where we can get out, meet our neighbours, enjoy the BBQ and watch with wonder at how long the kids can bounce in a castle.

The Main Event & Main Street Re-Opening Celebration
Saturday, June 17
10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Main Street from Hazel to Clegg
The Main Event is moving back onto Main Street for a combined Main Event & Main Street Re-Opening Celebration. Main Street will be closed from Clegg to Hazel for Old Ottawa East's biggest & best ever block party - you do not want to miss this one!!
Wagon rides, Main Farmers Market, children’s games, bouncy castles, live music, BBQ, market sale, food trucks and more.
Event presented by Community Activities Group of Old Ottawa East (CAG) and the Office of David Cherneshenko

This year, why not make more than an appearance at The Main Event? The Community Activities Group of Old Ottawa East (CAG) coordinates the event with the help of volunteers – and we can’t do it without you!
You can choose from an impressive array of opportunities, from flipping burgers to setting up tents, from inflating balloons to collapsing tables – we have it all and we can find something for you.
So don’t just show up this year – show up, help us out and enjoy the day with the satisfaction of having been involved in an event that is enjoyed by so many.

Posters
Two to three weeks prior to event: Put up provided posters around Old Ottawa East and on Elgin, Bank and in Sandy Hill and Alta Vista
Requirement: approx 10 people, will need a staple gun and tape

Garage Sale and Event signs
Ensure sandwich boards and signs are out at predetermined spots the week before the event and collected soon after. We will deliver signs to your home.
Requirement: One person. Will need a car as sandwich boards are heavy

Photographer to take a pictures of the event on the day and forward to CAG the week after the event for Facebook and the Mainstreeter report.
Requirement: One person

Transportation Team
We need someone with a drivers licence willing to rent a truck for Friday afternoon (June 16) and return it on Saturday after the event (June 17).
A small team is required to assist the driver with the pick up and transportation of items from various locations in Old Ottawa East on Friday evening and return items around 2:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
Requirement: One driver, four assistants, heavy lifting required

Set-up
8:00 - 10:00 a.m. - Volunteers are needed at Brantwood Park to set up the event.
Requirements: 6 people, heavy lifting will be required.

Take-down
2:00 - 3:30 p.m. - Volunteers are needed for take down of the event
Requirements: 6 people, heavy lifting will be required.

Muffins
Volunteers are needed to make muffins and deliver to the field house for 8:00 a.m. on the morning of the event, to feed hungry volunteers through set up
Requirements: 3 or 4 people to make a dozen muffins each

BBQ Main Event
Volunteers are needed to assist with the OECA BBQ.
10:00 - 11:00 a.m., set up and early cooking
11:00 - noon, flipping hamburgers and serving (6 people)
Noon - 1:00 p.m., flipping and serving (6 people)
1:00 - 2:00 p.m., flipping and serving (6 people)
2:00 p.m., take down and clean up (6 people)

Recycling
Volunteers are needed to bring recycling boxes to the event at 10:00 a.m. and take them home (full!) at 2:00 p.m. Need about 6 recycle boxes – both blue and black boxes please.

Garbage detail
The event is so much more pleasurable if the site is kept clean and tidy! This is easy to do while at the party anyway!
11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. - empty garbage cans if they fill up and to pick up garbage around the event as required. (one person)
12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. - empty garbage cans if they fill up and to pick up garbage around the event as required. (one person)

Balloons
8:30 – 10:00 a.m. Volunteers are needed to inflate helium balloons and put them up around the event site. We have 10 – 12 stakes to put up decorative clusters of balloons.

Bouncy Castle supervision
One person is needed to assist the rental company with supervision of the children on the bouncy castle and obstacle course.
Requirements: One person for each hour of the event

Weekly BBQ volunteers

Volunteers are needed each week for our summer BBQs. BBQs are advertised for 2017 as follows:
Brantwood BBQ & Picnic
Brantwood Park field house, 39 Onslow
May 18 – August 17
Thursday 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
Volunteers are needed every week from 5:00 p.m. to 7:15pm. Please email admin@ottawaeastCAG.ca if you are able to help. Ideally we are looking for volunteers that can commit to a minimum of three BBQs. Perfect for high school volunteer hours or others who are looking to get to know their neighbours.

Youth volunteers

CAG welcomes contributions from youth volunteers at any of the following, as well as our park, camp and after school programs. We welcome the opportunity to support our community youth in gaining “job” experience in this way – a great addition to a resume. Can be applied to high school community service hours. Suitable for youth in Grade 9 and up. For more information please contact cworkun@ottawaeastCAG.ca

Event Team members

CAG Events are all volunteer run.. Winter Party in the Park, Valentine Skate, The Main Event. Our "Events Team" is a lively group of volunteers who are willing and able to dedicate a few hours a month to ensure that these events are successful! Want to join the team or volunteer at an event?
