Ottawa Fine Arts Academy programs

CAG is pleased to announce a new partnership with Ottawa Fine Arts Academy, the goal; to provide high quality education and skill building in music, theatre, dance and visual art for children and adults! The Old Town Hall is in the thriving community of Old Ottawa East, but also serves neighbouring communities of the Glebe, Old Ottawa South, Sandy Hill and Centretown.

Old Town Hall is located at 61 Main Street, at the corner of Main and Hawthorne Avenue (just south of the Queensway underpass). There is on street parking during the day, in the evening parking is permitted in the Scotia Bank parking lot on Hawthorne.

Theatre Frolics (7 - 12 years) - NEW!

An introduction to the fine art of acting and a love of theatre through fun games and role plays while gaining valuable life skills, building confidence and developing a love of theatre. Students will develop their acting skills by mixing and building upon all core elements of theatre: improvisation, ensemble-making, vocalization, movement, and creativity. Program in partnership with Ottawa Fine Arts.

Theatre Frolics Instructor: Mekdes Teshome is an Ottawa native and graduate of the University of Ottawa with a double major in Theatre and Sociology, This actor-director has appeared in If We Were Birds (University of Ottawa), The Amazing Adventures of Pericles (A Company of Fools), Romeo and Juliet REDUX (The Gladstone), and The Ghomeshi Effect (The Gladstone). Furthermore, she has directed Danny and the Deep Blue Sea (University of Ottawa) and Begin a Game (Toronto Fringe Festival) to name a few.

Family Paint Night (7 and up) - NEW!

Paint Nights have become increasingly popular, but this is Paint Night with a twist - painting as a family! What a great way to connect, sharing in a fun and creative activity. No painting skills required, each family member will produce a “masterpiece” each to take home. Program in partnership with Ottawa Fine Arts.

Group Guitar Lessons for Beginners (12 - 95 years) - NEW!

This class will take students through the basics of guitar playing including basic rhythms and strumming patterns, simple chord shapes, finger picking patterns, and some melodic reading. It will be a fun, collaborative experience for all attendees! By the end of the course participants will be ready to entertain their family and friends with few favourite classic folk and pop songs.
Maximum 10 participants per class. Participants provide their own instrument. Program in partnership with Ottawa Fine Arts.

Instructor: Award-winning classical guitarist and composer Nathan Bredeson began playing guitar at a young age, kindling a passion for music that has carried throughout his life. He earned his Bachelor of Music at the University of Ottawa where he studied under Canadian Guitar Quartet founding member Denis Donegani, and composition with John Armstrong and Frederic Lacroix. Nathan was awarded the Ed Honeywell Memorial Scholarship for classical guitar in 2013. More about Nathan at https://nathanbredeson.ca/bio/
