Brantwood BBQ and Picnic

These are extra dates offered to coincide with late opening of the pool in July. If the weather is such that the pool does not open the BBQ will be cancelled.

Come and enjoy the best of the season in the park with friends and neighbours. Bring a picnic from home or purchase supper from the BBQ; hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie dogs and drinks will be available to purchase. Food and drink sales support community programs and events.
Looking for some active fun? The following is available to borrow if you want to coordinate an activity during BBQ hours:

The Main Event - Outdoor Movie Night - The Little Prince (G) - 108 minutes

9:00 p.m. or dusk, Springhurst Park, Lees Avenue
A little girl lives in a very grown-up world with her mother, who tries to prepare her for it. Her neighbor, the Aviator, introduces the girl to an extraordinary world where anything is possible, the world of the Little Prince.
No alcohol permitted; bring your own chair or blanket.
Presented by Sandy Hill Community Health Centre.

The Main Event - Garage Sale

Saturday, June 18
8:00 a.m. - noon, throughout Old Ottawa East
Time to sort out that basement? Start to plan your sale now! Sale is advertised in the Ottawa Citizen and the Pennysaver, on Kijiji and through social media. Signs are put up along Main Street and Lees, participants are recommended to put up signs from these streets to their own sale. Sale runs throughout Old Ottawa East, from Rideau Gardens Drive to Greenfield Avenue (including Kings Landing) and from Echo Drive to the Rideau River. Residents are welcome to participate on their own premises and businesses are invited to set up sidewalk sales.
Calvary Baptist Church is offering the use of a table on its property at 107 Main St. (corner of Main and Evelyn). To reserve a table at Calvary, please call Bob McRoberts at 613-733-5912 at any time and leave a message with your name, phone number, and the size of table you require (6- or 12-foot). You will receive a call to confirm your booking. Tables are offered on a first-booking basis.

The Main Event - Market Sale

Saturday, June 18
10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Brantwood Park, 39 Onslow Crescent
A market sale will run once again alongside the Main Event Community Party. We will welcome participation from artists, crafters and food vendors, - anything that would be part of a regular farmers market.
The Main Event is the biggest party of the year in the growing community of Old Ottawa East. The event offers something for everyone - bouncy castle, obstacle course, wagon ride, visits from Ottawa firefighters and police, live music, a community barbecue, food trucks and a wide variety of market vendors. Typically we have attendance in the region of 500 people during the course of the event, participating in activities and just having a great time!
Price per table: $25, pre-registration required.

Duelling knights, dastardly pirates, proper princesses, promiscuous prostitutes, an ancient goddess and not one but two shipwrecks! How could the Fools have waited so long to tell the thrilling tale of Pericles, Prince of Tyre! When our hero discovers a dark secret about the evil king of Antioch, Pericles is forced to flee for his life. So begins an epic voyage that takes him across several seas to far off lands where he discovers adventure, love and just maybe what life is all about. Don’t miss this exciting, fast paced escapade set in a mythical world and played against the backdrop of Ottawa’s parks. Fun for the entire family!

Winter Party in the Park

Horse-drawn sleigh ride, fun in the snow, skating-skills competition, hot dogs, soup and hot chocolate... A great party for the entire family! Bundle up, bring your skates and enjoy the fun! Attendance is free, donations welcome.
ANNUAL SOUP COOK-OFF
Enter your best soup recipe by email to volunteer@ottawaeastCAG.ca, first-come, first served! Soup to be brought to the field house, hot and in a slow cooker for 1:00 p.m. Judging at 1:30 p.m.

Valentine Skate

Attendance is FREE, donations welcome
Enjoy and evening at the rink with music, candles, hot dogs, chili, and hot chocolate. Everyone welcome! But, for one evening only - no hockey sticks please!
ANNUAL CHILI COOK-OFF
Enter your best chili recipe by email to volunteer@ottawaeastCAG.ca, first-come, first served! Chili to be brought to the field house, hot and in a slow cooker for 6:00 p.m. Judging at 6:30 p.m.
